I don’t care how much weed you smoke, there ain’t a single person alive not plagued by the temptation of worry.
I say “temptation” because even when a worrisome thought hits your mind (and it will), you don’t have to let it win you over.
You can direct your mind, direct your thoughts, back to the present moment.
I don’t meditate anymore, never really could stick to the habit and I think it’s really boring, even though I know it’s highly recommended by a lot of people I admire.
But if you can do it or at least embrace the philosophy of mindfulness throughout your day, it’ll help you combat worry.
Mindfulness, mind control – whatever you want to call it – you have this power within you, the power to harness your thoughts.
It just takes practice. Over and over and over.
And you don’t have to sit in the lotus position and carve out 5 minutes a day to do it and call it “meditation.”
You just have to become aware of your thoughts, aware of your worries, and remember that yesterday is gone, tomorrow is not here yet, and your best way to deal with tomorrow is by focusing on one task at a time today.
I don’t know what you think about Jesus. Shit I don’t know what I even think about Jesus – was he real, a lunatic, a wise guy or what have you.
But I used to read his words in the Bible a lot.
One thing I love that Jesus used to say: “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.”
It’s Monday and there’s a full week ahead, and maybe you’re tempted to worry.
Just remember that your life is passing like sand in an hourglass – one grain at a time.
And “getting a handle on the week,” or the month, or the year, or your life – it all comes down to just handling today the best you can.
You can prepare for the future, indeed you must.
But do it with a harnessed mind, not scurrying about like a scared rabbit.
And remember you’re not alone.
You have friends, family, and professionals that can help you.
And tomorrow will worry about itself.
